My Favorite One Direction Music Videos

I know this is pretty pathetic and irrelevant to most people, but it's been awhile since I've actually posted anything so I thought this would be an easy topic to discuss :)

1. One Thing
This was the first song that got me hooked on One Direction. I remember I would watch it over and over again because it was one of my favorite songs. I remember thinking the guy who sings first with the vest on, he's cute.
My second thought was, so who are these guys?
Well I kind of have slight OCD and I'm not afraid to admit that 1D is one of my obsessions. I read all about them on Wikipedia, watched hours worth of interviews and other clips.
(I think my next post will be about my OCD and my eccentricities.
But this is my favorite video because it shows the personalities of the guys and it's not all about looking cute or flirting with girls. And it was shot before they were world wide famous and it's neat to see all their fans at the beginning and see their interactions. And you get to sight see in one of my favorite places in the world, LONDON.
I also love this video because there are so many little things that one might miss if they only watched it a few times. I like to watch this video 5 times and each time focus on one of the guys. Niall is my favorite by far. He has like major ADD going on and it's so funny. I'll have to make a post about that too.
Oh ya, and I remember thinking Liam is a really good clapper.

2. Kiss You
This would be my second favorite music video because again, it shows off the boys' personalities. It's a little corny and weird and some people are gonna say their gay. But I love it. I love when you can see their true selves and what their like being together. I think it's cute :)

3. Little Things
Simple, easy, adorable. A love song that isn't about love. Does that make sense? It could have easily been a video about the guys and their lovers and them looking cute and flirting/dating etc but it isn't. It's about the boys. I think there's a recurring pattern here.

4. What Makes You Beautiful
I like this music video just because they look so young in it! A lot of people would always call me a pedofile or creep because I love these guys so much. But 1) I love them like I want to be best friends with them 2) Louis is 21 so whatever 3) Harry who is 19 dated Caroline Flack, 15 years his senior and 3) Liam is dating a 24 year old
But people think about them like they are in this video, but that was like 3 years ago. I mean, look at Niall's teeth and Liam's hair! So long ago.

5. One Way or Another (Teenage Kicks)
The song isn't my absolute favorite. But the meaning behind this video and the thought that went into it is what makes it so special. I like the fact that it's mostly filmed and directed by the boys and that you get to see their work and efforts in Africa.

6. It's Gotta Be You
Not a bad video but not a fan of the clothing, the set up, and Liam's hair. But my favorite part is Zayn's solo at the end...melts my heart a little bit every time :)

Okay that's it for now. If you haven't watched any of these videos, you must. Go, now. I'm sure you've heard of it. One Direction Vevo. Go on.

The Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookie

Ever since I was a young lass, I have always enjoyed cooking. I would always help my parents bake treats (that they would take to work and I never got to eat, still a little bitter but whatever) and help make dinner and so on.

Lord knows that my family isn't blessed with betty crocker skills (besides my grandma but that's because she's grandma). We do make good "here's and there's" that are basically fudge oatmeal type bars (and I actually like the way we make it better than Grandma's because we make it extra fudgy). And then there's the time my mom tried to make her chocolate eclair dessert. The stubborn person that she is, wouldn't wear her glasses and read the recipe for making the pudding wrong and didn't put enough milk in which resulted in a burnt out blender. 2 things, 1 my parents have the same appliances that they had since they got married or they replaced them with the cheapest option. And 2, why she was making pudding in a blender, I don't know.

But the one thing that we could never master was the chocolate chip cookie.
We tried and we tried and we tried but we could never successfully make chocolate chip cookies! We would just use the recipe on the back of the bag. Our neighbor made homemade cookies that were so perfect and I remember asking her how she got her cookies to be so perfect. Her secret was using crisco and a little extra flour. Well I tried that and NOTHING. My cookies were so thin, like potato chip thin and super crispy in a burnt kind of way, and then chocolate chips here and there.

Well the other night, I was determined to try and bake the perfect chocolate chip cookie. It probably has been over 7 years that I attempted to make them. I was very excited to see that my first batch looked really light and they were very puffy, almost like muffin tops. But when I took out the second batch (from the same batter, just on a different tray) they were flatter than flat.
I couldn't understand where I went wrong!
Then my dad pointed out that I used baking powder instead of baking soda. Whoops..... So we threw away the super thin ones and kept some of the cakey ones.

But tonight, I think I did it. I think I made the perfect homemade chocolate chip cookie.
They are slightly crisp around the edges, but nice and chewy and chocolatey in the middle. Not burnt, not too crisp. I am very proud of myself.
After 23 years of failure, I can finally say I made chocolate chip cookies that didn't look sh*t.

Well now that you are craving chocolate chip cookies, here is my one piece of advice for my success.
I think it's all about creaming the butter and sugar together. Make sure the butter is nice and soft, that creates a creamier dough. Don't use cold butter and then melt it in the microwave.

I just had to blog about this huge victory that just occurred in my life.

Travel Abroad part 2 ...really late part 2

Well I wrote this in my journal on the plane ride home. But luckily the memories that were made are still fresh in my brain.

August 11, 2011

Well so much for journaling on my trip. I even brought it travelling and it was just a waste of space. Well I'm finally on the plane to Moline. It's been a long journey that's for sure. I woke up late and was concerned I didn't have everything packed so I made it to the tube station late and had to run to my gate. I got to the airport at 10:05 and my flight was supposed to leave at 10:15...I was very lucky but my luggage wasn't.
After getting off the plane in O'Hare, I had to go through customs, get my bag (which wasn't there) and then go through customs AGAIN then find my gate which was at a different terminal, then go through security and then run to my gate. It was quite the workout.
By the time I got to the Moline airport, I was so relieved. I remember seeing my dad at the end of the hall and I just ran. I was so happy to see him and tell him everything.

I came into London the night before from Barcelona and I had a late flight. It took too long to get my luggage that I missed the last train to get back to campus and the only option I had was to take a cab. I could've taken a bus but it would've taken 2 plus hours, plus there was all the riots going on at the time. The cab cost me 75 pounds...75!!!!! I was going to die!! The cab driver was very nice and we talked on the drive back. He pointed out this smoke in the distance and said that it was the Sony building from the riots. We had a bunch of policemen that were staying in our dorms which was kind of scary. I thanked the very kind cab driver but I was still dying inside that I spent more on a cab ride inside of London than my flight from Barcelona to London. GAHHH

I left Barcelona before the rest of the girls because they were staying in London for another week

Well part 1 of my journal was before I got to London and part 2 is about when I left. I'll try and write a better blog next time about what happened in between that time.
